Jeremy Lister papers [photostats], 1771-1783.

Photostat copies of the papers of British Soldier Jeremy Lister during the Revolutionary War, 1771-83, include letters written to his father James Lister and a narrative pertaining to his experiences in the 10th Regiment of Foot (Royal Lincolnshire Regiment). Letters include descriptions of the Battle of Bunker Hill and the burning of Charlestown; the status of his injured arm; his promotion from ensign to lieutenant; and his financial concerns. Narrative includes detailed descriptions of his trip from England to the United States in 1771; daily activities as a soldier; the Battle of Lexington and Concord; injuring his arm; the Battle of Bunker Hill; and his trip back to England in 1776, among others. Location of original papers unknown.
